Breathe With Kindness

As the fog lifts breathe deeply letting the light lift your heart.

Be gentle with yourself while you notice your breath rise and rest.

Your breath awakens the moving intelligence within your body.
Notice life unfolding today as kindness.

Healing Anxiety

Anxiety mysteriously hides out in the body as physical symptoms.

Sometimes it's fleeting like a bird rising into flight.

Other times it cleverly masquerades in the body as discomfort.

When your mind is foggy, your body might feel foreign, not really painful.

You may be tired of feeling out of sorts from too many sleepless nights.

Getting through each day is challenging.

When fear arises,

when worry arises,

when doubt arise,

tenderly invite them to rest in your heart.

Pay attention to them with kindness.

Listen to them and ask what they want.

Your presence may be the medicine they seek.

Listening to your heart deepens your connection with your body.

Feel yourself coming into synch with more life energy, better boundaries,

and ever expanding health.

Resistance to Healing

Your body is always seeking balance.

Every time you hurt, your body comes to your rescue with protective strategies to keep you safe and prevent further suffering.

Somehow these subtle corrections become emotionally melded together as ingrained patterns slowly shift your physical alignment.

What arises as pain is the body's protection, presenting the road map for the release.

Once your body's suffering is welcomed rather than resisted, the body will let go of fear, tension, and stress.

You've been taught that letting go is desirable.

Letting go creates a conflicting relationship with the body-mind.

Getting rid of a symptom is formed independently by the mind.

Rejecting your body symptoms usually means nothing changes.

Resistance means pain persists.

You can't overcome resistance, as that's more resistance.

And not wanting something to be there is also more resistance.

If only you could let go of your idea of how things need to be and trust your body.

Reaching out for support with CranioSacral is one way to listen to your body's intelligence.

Allowing what is happening to be present releases resistance.

Allowing is a catalyst for letting love in.

Calm Your Body

When the world's chaos is too much and I don't know what to do, I listen with my body. Feeling my heart beating brings comfort to my soft body. Listening into this familiar cadence helps me rest deeper.

A CranioSacral session begins with listening with all of your body's sensations good or bad. When your pain is witnessed and held, healing is possible. My hands and heart support your body's painful sensations until they crest into gentle flowing waves of relief. As you are held blocks begin opening, allowing muscular tension to melt while calming the nervous system. Quieting your mind and expanding your heart renews your connection to your body and health.

"Today I experienced somatically what it means to surrender. Barbara brought my attention to a gentle rocking movement that was happening in my body and guided me into an experience of connecting my pain to my heart and the heart of the earth/universe. It was beautiful. It was a profound shift for me to literally feel the heart of the earth/universe and mine seemingly flowing as one. We are not alone. It is only a matter of allowing, letting what is be, breathing, and deeply trusting. Profound. Thank you Barbara." -- C.W.

Reset Your Nervous System

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 4.11.20 PM.png

Slowly my body began tightening up. As I listened to my body, creeping up sensations were shrinking my neck and upper back. I felt almost neck-less by not being able to turn to the right.

Your neck is comprised of multiple layers of fascia, highly innervated tissues, that extend from your forehead across the back of your head, neck and back body, down to the soles of your feet. Imagine layers that wrap lengthwise and diagonally crossing your heart including your arms and hands.

Everything is connected.

The strength and tenacity that resides within your core is comprised of deep fascial layers protecting your brain and spinal cord.

Fascial tissues and fluids hold memories. Some are deeply held seemingly beyond the conscious mind while others are exciteable creating tension patterns that can be long term stiffness or surprisingly painful.

As a human being you are imprinted from birth for survival by keenly sensing danger as well as the reassurance of safety, love and connection. As a child your nervous system entrained or synchronized with your parent's nervous system. You can reset your nervous system from your early childhood default setting.

The amygdala, located in the base of your head, accesses danger all throughout life. When you're stressed the amygdala doesn't know the difference between being stampeded by wild animals or negative thoughts or worrying. Regardless of the cause, the stress response is turned on 50 times a day according to Lissa Rankin M.D. Adding to the importance of maintaining cranial alignment for physical and emotional well-being.

I began CranioSacral Therapy because I had been pushed beyond my limits for over a year. I was always stressed out, unable to relax, and wasn't coping well with day to day tasks. Although I didn't know it when I began, my nervous system had been heavily compromised, and Barbara was able to help me hit the reset button. Since starting therapy with her, my anxiety levels have dropped drastically. I am able to relax more easily, and go through the typical ups and downs of life with small children and a stressful job. I am incredibly grateful to Barbara for her help. I don't know where I would be without her! -- R.S.
